Introducing
Anastasia &
John
With
songs that feature soaring melodies, clever acoustic guitar settings, and rich vocal
harmonies, its no wonder that contemporary folk-rock duo Anastasia &
John count David Crosby and Graham Nash among their growing legion of fans.
Drawing from their Midwestern roots, Anastasia (originally from Missouri)
& John (Nebraska) dig deep beneath the pretty surfaces of their music
to deftly examine meaningful issues of real lives, often using moments from their own
relationship as a source. Now based in California, Anastasia & John
have been performing in clubs, coffeehouses and at music festivals for over four years,
and recently spent two months on the road opening shows for CPR, the new band featuring
Crosby and his son, James Raymond.
Their well received performances include appearances at
The Birchmere (Alexandria, VA), Caravan of Dreams (Fort Worth, TX), The Backstage
(Seattle, WA) and nearly every House of Blues across the country.
In November 1997, Anastasia & John
released their debut CD titled, appropriately, "Thats
You and Me".
The album includes 11 original
songs recorded and co-produced by Grammy nominated engineer Paul Dieter (Jackson Browne,
10,000 Maniacs). Guest appearances by Nash, Raymond, Jimmy Messina, Jeff Pevar (CPR),
Jorge Calderon (David Lindley, Warren Zevon), and many others add the perfect touch to A
& Js performances.
Anastasia & John
sing original heartfelt songs
that combine elements of folk, rock and jazz to create a breezy style that is both
intriguing and direct.
"Music that is
unique, honest, and speaks directly to the heart."

------ There's More . . .
Anastasia-
In the fall of 1998 you might have heard
Anastasia's
voice carrying over the TV waves on a CBS show called "To Have
and To Hold". The Music for
the show was arranged and produced by James Raymond. The opening theme song for the show
was sung by Anastasia, with harmonies by James, and David Crosby. Written
by James and David. Anastasia also sang on several different occasions
during the show. An original song written by James titled "What Will I Do", a song by Melissa Etheridge titled "Talking To My Angel" , plus a lot of "oohs" and some "aahs" too! It
was a beautiful show, but unfortunately they had to cancel it. James continued his work
with CBS, and in January 1999 he asked Anastasia to do a beautiful song
titled "The Water is Wide" for a show called "LA Doctors".
It received wonderful
response! And is still receiving it!
